Foreword by the SVB President
It is with pleasure that I present you the Strategic Plan of the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond (SVB).
As in most places in the world, Football is recognized as the number one sport in Suriname. Throughout all seasons in all districts youngsters (boys and girls), ladies as well as veterans practice our beloved sport and in doing so, they contribute to a healthy lifestyle. It is telling to see that even in the most remote areas in the interior of Suriname, indigenous people and maroons practice football with limited resources and under difficult circumstances, limitations caused by amongst other geographical, financial and technical factors.
“WITH FOOTBALL BEING OUR LEADING SPORT, THE SVB WILL INSPIRE OUR NATION WITH BETTER FOOTBALL FOR ALL, ON AND OFF THE PITCH. “
Just like one ironically say’s that poverty of a country is one’s own choice, one could say that cessation or lack of development of football in a country is one’s own choice. We therefore salute and complement all our past presidents, board members, top athletes, supporters and sponsors for their endeavors, and choices made that have brought us as far as we are today and have given us the opportunity to take our sport to the next level. It is in their honor that…
“THE SVB IS COMMITTED TO PROFESSIONALLY MANAGE, DEVELOP AND PROMOTE FOOTBALL AT ALL LEVELS.”
The SVB therefor has to create an environment in which the football community can develop their full potential and facilitate the development of productive, creative sportsman, clubs and member associations that lives in accord with their needs and interests.
This goal we try to achieve through a strategic plan that includes; grassroots development projects, creating facilities and accommodations that meet today’s requirements, improvement of managerial skills at federation-, union- and club level. Improvement of technical skills and physical condition of our players, implementation and improvement of ICT in our federation’s administration, special projects for women and youth, special projects in the rural areas and last but not least the marketing and income generating projects to be implemented in order to co-finance this strategic goal.
Hard work, cooperation, planning, communication, investments in human capacity and infrastructure as well as Individual and collective efforts and financial means will leads us to the achievement of our goal.
